5/13/2023 0 Comments Bringing home a birkinWhy did you decide to write “Bringing Home the Birkin”?įor many years when I was traveling around the world buying and selling Birkin bags I would stay in luxury hotels. Here’s hoping to champagne in Paris soon… I was lucky enough to speak with Tonello via email about his book. His humor, wit and roll-with-the-punches spirit makes reading this book a pure delight. I delusionally believe I am Tonello’s Ideal Reader I can picture us drinking champagne at the Hemingway Bar, toasting our latest shopping acquisitions from Galeries Lafayette.įantasies aside, Tonello’s writing will find an Ideal Reader in almost anyone. In On Writing, author Stephen King says one should write with an Ideal Reader in mind. His tone and voice make this book a marvelous read. The most engrossing part of the book was the author. The book transported me into the world of luxe accessories, Barcelona and bien sûr, Paris – a fashion capital of the world. Bringing Home the Birkin recounts Tonello’s adventures securing Birkin bags for his clients. They are a staple in wardrobes of the fashion elite. The bags are extravagant, ranging from $7,000 to $150,000. French fashion house Hermès created the Birkin leather handbag in 1984, named for actress Jane Birkin. Those disinterested in fashion may be unaware of the Power of the Birkin. He chronicled these adventures in his bestselling-book, Bringing Home the Birkin. Tonello traveled the globe, hunting for the Holy Grail: Birkin bags. He is the Indiana Jones of the handbag world (minus the fedora and bullwhip).

This book spins Jack back into the Fables world while maintaining his own cast and introducing a new threat. Bill Willingham co-wrote most issues, collaborating with Matthew Sturges. A different style of writing was applied to Jack of Fables, relying more on surreal twists and a comedic tone. The scheming rogue character applied to Jack of All Tales resulted in him quickly topping the popularity ratings for Fables cast members, and he was spun off into his own comic. This is an oversize hardcover presentation of what was previously collected as The Great Fables Crossover, and if there’s one Fables collection that can, and possibly should, be avoided it’s this.
5/13/2023 0 Comments Queen of shadowsI had to read a sentence few times to make sense of it.īut I have to say I didn’t like Isabella either. Instead we get abruptly changing POV’s which made me so confused. Why does she want to kill Edward II who isn’t in anyway responsible for the things that happened to her family? It would have been far more interesting to hear the story just from Isabella’s point of view. The idea of Gwenith taking revenge for her family is kinda far-stretching. She starts to serve Queen Isabella intending to bring harm but comes to respect Isabella, but comes hate the Despensers.īook is told mostly from Gwenith’s point of view, for reasons I can’t figure out. Gwenith’s family is killed when Edward I crushes Wales and Gwenith grows up with her grandmother, who makes Gwenith promise to seek vengeance for her family. 5/13/2023 0 Comments Not My Spook! by TinneanWe've got plenty of time." "C'mon, Wills, we're going to write out our Christmas cards." Theo gestured to the boxes of cards he'd placed on the coffee table in the living room.
